Updates for 2026/2027 Academic Year

New & Improved

  1. We offer breakfast fare now Monday through Friday in the allergen-free station at '53 Commons, A9, as well as a selection of prepared meals that are an addition to our usual daily offerings for those individuals who require that level of service.
  2. Sauté Fresh at '53 Commons will now feature fried eggs to order Sunday through Friday mornings in addition to the awesome omelet bar.
  3. We have added new evening deli options at '53 Commons to include several tasty, topped flatbreads, dressed potato skins, along with Caesar salads and nachos during the dinner meal period.
  4. Herbivore will now offer a new customizable offering of a Mediterranean bar, in addition to the existing menu that currently features vegan and vegetarian staples, plus a pho and ramen bar that are also in the rotation.
  5. Breakfast pizzas are being piloted in the Hearth station of '53 Commons.
  6. Sushi and smoothies will be offered on weekends at '53 Commons (the sushi bar will be offered monthly and smoothies every Saturday).
  7. We have completed the process required for increased Orthodox Kosher oversight with the Orthodox Union (OU). The Pavilion station in '53 Commons will now feature an OU-approved menu and have constant supervision of the food production process to ensure compliance by two Kosher Supervisors (Mashgiachs).
  8. We've implemented a new and improved menu system, called Jamix, which will allow Dining to integrate with the Nutrislice company for engaging and detail-oriented menu boards, website food menus, a mobile menu app, and QR codes at product placement for easy access to nutritional information. (This is still in progress, but we are getting there. Dining is working hard to complete 12 to 15 months of work in only five months to transition to this program.) Menu boards are still not quite perfect, but they are getting better every day.
  9. Courtyard Café underwent the final round of renovations to increase ambiance with new seating, lighting, flooring, and ceilings; a larger, more open kitchen with new equipment to improve food production capabilities and improve speed of service; and a ventilation system
  10. We are getting great food waste data from Topanga for both back-of-the-house production waste and front-of-the-house post-consumer waste, which we'll continue to use to mark behavioral changes in our staff and guests.
  11. We have added brand new additional Fresh Zone locations at Russo and Fairweather as well as two automated units at the Courtyard Café. Hampshire and Topliff will have Fresh Zone locations by the end of October. Twenty-four new Version 2 Smart Fridges have replaced older units, and our first automated hot entrée vending machine will be at the Brace Commons/Goldstein Fresh Zone.
  12. We are in the process of adding a gourmet, made-to-order Costa Coffee unit at the Top of the HOP.
  13. We created a "Power Up Your Meal Plan" marketing initiative based on requests by Student Government to add additional funds easily to existing meal plans. Students and their supporters can now add additional funds with the discretionary tender called DA$H.
  14. We will be adding the capability to process 12 credit card transactions at a time to improve speed of service at football and hockey games. This is a dramatic increase from our four current units and allows quick tap payment for transactions.
  15. At the end of the 2026 spring term, we closed the Café@Baker due to lack of volume and created a new Fresh Zone with Costa Coffee Café right near the 24-hour access area by the Novack Café to improve service.
