Winter Break Information
Dartmouth Dining has some great news to share with you! Your fall term meal plan will continue to work through the winter break! It's true: any remaining swipes and Dining Dollars on your plan will continue to be available to use through the Winterim period.
Ivy Unlimited Plan: Unlimited meal swipes continue through the Winterim period. Plus, your Dining Dollars will be available for use during the break, and all unused balances will carry forward until Commencement in June.
Block Plans: When your swipes for the term run out, you can continue using Dining Dollars for meals. If you run out of both meal swipes and Dining Dollars, you will be able to continue eating with DDS using the Meal Subsidy Program which uses DDS Charging and a later reimbursement credit in D-Pay.
The Meal Subsidy Program works exclusively at 1953 Commons and is available only for undergraduate students meeting all three criteria below:
- Those who meet financial eligibility criteria determined by the Financial Aid Office
- Those who have used all of their fall term meal swipes and Dining Dollars
- Those who are staying in campus-managed housing during the interim period.
The subsidy only applies to days you are approved for interim housing. This program uses the DDS charging account on your ID card for meals up to a maximum of $35.35/day for meals at 1953 Commons. That amount is designed to cover up to 2 meals each day. Charges up to $35.35 each day will be credited back to your student account/D-Pay by the College. This credit will be posted in December for November meal charges, in January for December meal charges, and in February for January meal charges prior to January 4.
Dining opportunities include the Class of 1953 Commons when the dining hall is open, special holiday meals at the Hanover Inn on December 26th, as well as to-go meal days for those few days when 1953 Commons is closed.
1953 Commons will be open from 12/2 through 12/21 for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with more limited scheduling on other days. Click here to see weekly operating hours updates and click here to look ahead at the whole winter break period.
